Kinesio Taping
You might have noticed your favorite athlete wearing a brightly colored tape on their arms, legs, neck, and back. It’s not just fashion, in fact, K-Tape is used to treat a wide range of sports-related injuries among other issues. What is Kinesio Tape? A thin, breathable, waterproof cotton tape that stretches with your skin. It’s not bulky but will provide support and won't limit your mobility. The non-invasive Kinesio tape is safe for children and adults. What do you use Kinesio Tape for?
- Support: Assists in moving weak and injured muscles and reduces pain.
- Circulation: By gently lifting your skin, K-tape allows blood to flow more freely.
- Swelling: When applied to the swollen area, K-Tape may pull fluids away and ease tension.
- Prevention: K-Tape gives that extra support and stability to problematic joints.
- Natural: Drug-free and noninvasive method to healing.
Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy and Chiropractic care complement each other very well. A massage can increase the effectiveness of a chiropractic adjustment and prolong its effects. The chiropractic adjustment makes it easier for the massage to affect the body.
As an accepted part of the physical rehabilitation program at County Line, massage therapy is part of our treatment protocol. Many patients find this type of care beneficial for many chronic conditions, including neck, mid, and lower back pain, arthritis, bursitis, fatigue, immunity suppression, stress relief, and more.
*We do not offer stand-alone massages currently. They must be a part of your custom treatment plan.
“Most people think I am just adjusting their spine but in reality I am adjusting overall health of their body.”
– Dr. Hajisafari
Adjustment
The root of our practice, equal parts science and art. The purpose of a chiropractic adjustment is to restore proper joint function and thus relieve nerve interference by moving the bones into proper alignment. Once the bones are aligned and the muscles are relaxed, proper healing may begin.
We apply chiropractic adjustments in many ways, hands-on and with the help of tools. Our Doctors have experience in multiple methods and techniques, learned through years of practice.
The human spine goes through many stresses during the average day. Imagine what getting into a car accident or falling does to your spine and the surrounding muscles.
*We require X-Rays or similar medical imaging before performing a chiropractic adjustment.
Physical Therapy
Our Accident Recovery Team of Doctors and Therapists will help you adapt to the physical changes in your body after a car accident or injury by teaching and doing with you, exercises and activities chosen by your stage of recovery.
Getting back to your normal routine is everyone’s objective after a mishap, but failure to tend to injuries and strengthen following a car accident may leave you with a high chance of re-injury or prolonged pain. Physical therapy helps the body restore strength and range of motion in a non-invasive and drug-free way.
“If health is a state of harmony within the body, then wellness is the habit that creates it.”
– Dr. Nieves-Cintron
Ultrasound
Ultrasound Therapy is a natural, alternative medicine and is very useful in treating many injuries. It’s completely non-invasive and painless, though you may feel a small tingle and heat, most patients enjoy the feeling.
How does it work? The ultrasound wand contains a special crystal, and when that crystal is charged, it vibrates very quickly creating ultrasound waves. Those waves are aimed at your injured area, creating heat, increasing blood flow, decreasing swelling and improving range of motion.
Our Car Accident Recovery Team will use Ultrasound therapy along with other treatments to increase the flow of blood and assist in recovery. This therapy has also been shown to reduce inflammation, which is crucial to a speedy and painless recovery.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) has three major roles in your treatment plan: to reduce muscle spasms, to relieve pain and to reduce inflammation.
How does it work? Your therapist will place two or four sticky pads in various patterns around your problem area. Light electrical pulses are then sent to the pads, causing the muscles to contract and spasm. It may sound scary or painful, but it’s very therapeutic. The contractions halt the spasms and release endorphins, relieving your pain. The EMS machines are fully adjustable to find the sweet spot for each patient and their individual comfort levels.
Spinal Decompression Therapy
Chiropractic spinal decompression involves stretching the spine using motorized traction to help relieve back pain. This stretching changes the position and force of the spine, which takes the pressure off your spinal discs. These discs are gel-like cushions between the bones in your spine.
Like spinal traction, chiropractic spinal decompression has the goals of relieving pain and promoting healing for herniated, bulging or degenerating discs by creating negative pressure inside the disc to help reposition it and encourage healing.
Chiropractic spinal decompression may help treat these conditions without the need for surgery:
- Herniated or bulging discs
- Degenerative disc disease
- Neck or back pain
- Sciatica, which involves weakness, pain, or tingling that extends down the leg
- Posterior facet syndrome (worn spinal joints)
- Diseased or injured spinal nerve roots
During a chiropractic spinal decompression, the chiropractor fits you with one harness around your chest and another around your hips. You lie on a computer-controlled table, and your chiropractor operates the computer based on your specific needs. Treatment may last 30 to 45 minutes and you may need 20 to 28 treatments over the course of 5 to 7 weeks.
Heat Therapy
Heat therapy for back pain can be very beneficial for arthritis, stiff muscles, strains, and many types of chronic pain. Heat can help heal by enlarging blood vessels below the surface of the skin, which relaxes muscles, stimulates the healing process, and decrease pain. Additionally, heat therapy can help relax your muscles for an improved spinal manipulation or therapeutic massage.
Moist Heat Therapy is often better than dry heat therapy (such as a heating pad) since it doesn’t draw moisture out of the skin. Hydrated skin helps your healing process. It also just feels better.
Hydrocollator Packs are a specific type of moist heat therapy. With a combination of bentonite clay and other natural fillings, Hydrocollator Packs stay in heated water until they’re used. Your chiropractor will use one or more towels to act as a barrier between your skin and the Hydrocollator Pack, so you don’t have to worry about being burned. All you experience is soothing heat for 20 minutes or longer, depending on your needs.
Heat therapy isn’t always an option. Recent injuries that are bruised or swollen benefit from ice much more than heat. Additionally, heat therapy may not be appropriate for people with:
- Severe cognitive impairment
- An open wound
- Diabetes
- Deep vein thrombosis
- Dermatitis
- Peripheral vascular disease
